TIESFPC Extends Fallow Land Cultivation Initiative to Ramapuram

February 17, 2026

TIES Farmer Producer Company has expanded its Fallow Land Cultivation Project to Ramapuram in Kottayam, bringing nearly 50 acres of fallow land under active cultivation. The formal inauguration and contract farming agreement signing were held on 17 February 2026 with Mathew Zacharias and James Zacharias of the Mundakkal Thekkinadu family, Marangattu, Ramapuram.

The occasion was attended by K. K. Santharam, President of Ramapuram Panchayat; Soumya Joseph, Panchayat Member; Joseph Zacharias (Mundakkal); Dr. Punnen Kurian, Managing Director, TIES FPC; and Jomon Joseph, Supervisor, TIES FPC. Formal agreements were executed on the same day, and land preparation commenced immediately with tractor tilling, marking the operational launch of the project.

The initiative initially covers around 5 acres of moderate wetland, with phased expansion planned across the remaining area. Addressing the gathering, Panchayat President K. K. Santharam congratulated TIES FPC for undertaking the challenging task of revitalizing farming practices and conserving biodiversity. He remarked that while many organizations opt for easier ventures, TIES FPC stands apart by embracing responsible agricultural development and assured full Panchayat support to expand the venture across Ramapuram.

The cultivation plan for the procured land includes off-season summer crops such as sesame or red cowpea, followed by two paddy cycles - Viripp in June and late Mundakan in September, ensuring productive and sustainable land utilization throughout the year.

This expansion reflects TIES FPC’s continued commitment to agricultural rejuvenation, farmer partnership, and ecological sustainability in the region.
